Writer, linguist, translator, researcher, and Ayuujk (Mixe) activist, Yásnaya Elena Aguilar Gil has a master’s degree in linguistics from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). Her work focuses on linguistic diversity as well as native languages at risk of disappearing in Mexico. She has collaborated on various projects about the dissemination of linguistic diversity, educational materials in Indigenous languages, and documentation projects and attention to languages at risk of disappearing. She has written for a variety of media in Mexico, including Letras Libres, Nexos, and Revista de la Universidad de México.
